While numbers have picked up when it comes to revenue and success for women entrepreneurs, they still face far more challenges than men in the world of business.

The Challenges of Women Entrepreneurship

Changing Social Expectations

Within many professional circles, the number of women are vastly slim. It can be intimidating as a female entrepreneur to conduct business in a world that is predominantly male. The competitive spirit and the need to acclimate can easily take over. They believe they need to be as dominating and competitive as their male counterparts. However, many successful women in business have found strength in showing up as who they are. These women have found tremendous success.

Being Taken Serious

Women struggle even harder to be taken seriously as leadership and business owners. Many would assume that female CEO’s are riding on the coattails of their father or husband’s success, even if they have established these businesses on their own merit. This leaves most women to battle their own internal dialogue and cultivate a positive environment.

Work/Life Balance

Everyone is faced with the issue of balancing their work and life. It is even more difficult for the female entrepreneur that lives in a world centered around the woman as the default care giver of the family. While not in all families, many households rely heavily on the wives and mothers to take on more maternal duties than men do. Even though that mindset has since shifted in the past few years, it’s still a continuous struggle.

The world of business is always shifting and changing. Even though it still has its challenges, there is way more opportunity today for women to thrive in the business world. Women have the advantage to change social expectations of what is professionally acceptable. At the same time, she has the capacity to earn the respect deserved in her industry. She can also be a kick-ass leader and business owner at the same time being an amazing wife and mom.
